Feature in ETS Website News Story
ETS held a Back-to-School event and sought to increase their client base through this event. I created the email and associated text to attract potential clients and current clients to observe all that ETS has to offer them in their classroom. A link to this article was hosted on the homepage and news section.

KALX Fundraiser Amplified to Success
Our 2014 Fall Fundraiser ended on a high note for us here at KALX, UC Berkeley’s on campus student and community-run radio station. Our eight-day event, took place from October 13 to the 21st where our generous supporters helped KALX surpass the previous years total of donations. In order to thank our donors, we are treating them to various gifts such as, stickers, earplugs and t-shirts.
The money our hardworking team raised for KALX is being put right back into station to continue to provide original programming, Cal sports coverage, news events, and of course music that the Berkeley community has come to love and appreciate, “All of our programs are supported by donor money keeping the infrastructure of this place running. They're responsible for the equipment — all of the things that keep us running . . . The donors are allowing us to continue to provide them this really great programming,” said Wasson.
KALX General Manager Sandra Wasson is ecstatic about having the community be apart of the fundraising process, “I think what is really cool about KALX radio and a lot of college radios is that we solicit designs from the community so that the community can be involved.”
One of our original designs which is featured on a t-shirt depicts a grey bat wearing headphones and listening to the radio, which is being gifted to our generous KALX donors, “The short sleeve t-shirt was designed by a KALX listener. I think that’s a really integral part of our fundraising . . . Our designs reflect the diversity of our community because if you look at our shirts, they change over the years. We’re constantly trying to reflect the community of Berkeley both in our work and the content we create,” said Wasson.
The money also goes into training our diverse staff of students and giving them first time radio experience. We currently employ around 250-300 team members comprised of students, volunteer’s new and old as well as current staff. Our mission statement is focused on their employees, “The mission is what we’re doing for the people working at the station. The mission is two things: providing people who have not had experience in radio, experience in radio. And students who have never done news or sports or play by play or sports or whatever. Half of the effort is providing good goals. The other is what we can provide for the listener.”
Wasson notes, “All of these programs are supported by donor money keeping the infrastructure of this place running. Without them our station wouldn’t be as it is today.” Donating to KALX will allow our content that reflects the diverse Berkeley community to continue to thrive on campus.
To listen to KALX, tune into 90.7 FM or you can stream it live on our website. For more information about KALX, including donating, visit http://kalx.berkeley.edu.
Turnitin Comes to bCourses
ETS is excited to announce the integration of Turnitin with bCourses beginning this Spring 2015 Semester. Turnitin will allow for students to upload their assignments to bCourses so that their assignments can be compared to Turnitin’s extensive database of books, journal articles, websites and other student papers. This feature will allow instructors the ability to quickly and easily assess the authenticity of a students work. Turnitin’s “Originality Check” feature can also provide a score which is assigned a percentage based on the content in a student's paper that references other sources.
TurnItIn is an optional feature that professors can opt to include in their bCourses site by contacting academicintegrity@berkeley.edu and indicating which course would benefit by having Turnitin available. Additionally, you can opt to enable students the ability to view their “Originality Check” scores after an assignment is turned in or after an assignment has been graded.
In order to facilitate the integration of Turnitin, we are providing training and workshops which can be accessed by clicking here. With this new feature instructors alike can conveniently ensure the quality of work turned in as well as make the grading process much easier.
Document Formating Infographic
ETS publishes informational articles for faculty, GSI's, and professors to access when they need to know about a process for an ETS Service. In order to make these articles easier to process and understand, I created an infographic for service leads from over 10 departments to follow. This will influence the style of writing by which future articles will be written and affect the audience.
